After the responses I received the first time that I shared Sandy's book with you, I knew that somehow I had to do another GIVEAWAY of her book. I was really stunned and saddened by many of your responses to my question, "Are you a reluctant entertainer? If yes, Why?". It's no surprise to me why The Reluctant Entertainer has been such a success. So many women NEED encouragement and practical advise on how to entertain guests in their homes. The Reluctant Entertainer gives them just that!
I was blessed to meet Sandy back in October at a conference. I can't say enough about her or her book. She is such a sweet lady! Her gift of encouraging and teaching others, to be a blessing, by setting aside their apprehensions, regarding entertaining, shines through in her blog, and her book!
The Reluctant Entertainer is easy to read, you can open it up to any page and find useful tidbits of information for entertaining and life in general. Sandy has also sprinkled many of her tried and true family recipes throughout her book.
Would you consider yourself someone who enjoys entertaining in in your home?
Or would you rather be a guest in someone elses home?
Are you envious of people who make entertaining seem easy?
Do you make excuses as to why you never have anyone over?
Are you putting way too much pressure on yourself when it comes to entertaining others in your home?

I love to entertain. This weekend we are hosting a February Birthday party for family. Can't wait cause its at my house and I don't have to drive anywhere.
ReplyDeleteI am THE reluctant entertainer, not sure if it is an excuse, but I just don't like it-makes me nervous for weeks in advance, oooh and so crabby. My mom and my sister love it, they make it look and seem effortless, I admire that, but I just don't have it. I do love to go to parties and I will gladly contribute in any way I can- I am also known to bring a good hostess gift every now and then:}.
ReplyDeleteIt all depends on the condition of my house....if my dining room table is clear, then bring on the friends! What a great prize; hope I win!
ReplyDeleteWe entertain a lot, mostly during the summer at our cottage. I am always looking for new way and creative ways to do so! Though I do sometimes tend to stress out so hoping this will help lower the stress level a bit.
ReplyDeleteJust shared on FB as well!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely a reluctant entertainer, even though my husband loves to entertain! I put way too much pressure on myself to have everything perfect. I would love to learn ways to become more comfortable with entertaining.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am the poster child for the reluctant entertainer and I'm having people over this weekend! It's because I always dread cleaning my house first and addressing all clutter that accumulates.
ReplyDeleteI am reluctant because I have three toddlers, 2 dogs, and a working hsband...so my house isn't always how I would like to to be...otherwise, I love having people over!
ReplyDeleteI love having people over (as long as I know in advance and can plan :) )!

I love to be the hostess! I love making pretty trays of food and fun drinks. The only thing that I don't like is the clean up afterwards! :-)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE to have people over....it's my husband that is the reluctant entertainer....help me out!
ReplyDeleteI love entertaining, but often stress about it so I just dont! Would love this book!
ReplyDeleteBlessings-
Amanda
I enjoy entertaining. It gives me a good excuse to clean my cob-webbed corners and scuff-marked floors. But to be entertained is nice too. I love to see new decoration/design in other people's homes. Most of all entertaining opens doors to new friendships, new conversations, new ideas, new techniques, new laughter, and a whole lot of fun! Thanks S!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy entertaining & love to read Sandy's tips especially about stressing less & just going with the flow - lessons I need to learn.
ReplyDeleteI AM THE RELUCTANT ENTERTAINER!!! I have a nice house for entertaining, but the anxiety of anything tasting "less than perfect" or my house not "shining like the top of the Chrysler Building" puts me in a world of angst. Creative meals and presentation of food are not my forte.
ReplyDeleteI love to entertain but I do not have the time or energy to do a lot of it.

I love to entertain but most of my friends are either too busy or shut ins, so when I do entertain sometimes the turn out is not so great. Maybe that is part of just going with the flow......sounds like I need this book.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say I'm a reluctant entertainer so much. I do like to entertain. I don't like the craziness my husband seems to take it with spending money because he thinks either there's not going to be enough food or he thinks we need to provide everything when it's family coming over. POTLUCK!
ReplyDeleteI am a reluctant entertainer, for sure. It doesn't stop me from entertaining, but I really don't enjoy it until the guests arrive. I'd rather be at someone else's house because then I get new ideas as to how to prepare, serve and present food dishes. It bugs me how relaxed others are when they are entertaining...but then I wonder....are they really that relaxed inside? Maybe they are like me! We still entertain, but I am just a wreck the hours beforehand and my family takes the brunt of my self-induced pressure. :( I need to let go of everything having to look perfect and just enjoy the fact that we are getting together with people.
ReplyDeleteI love to entertain but could definitely use some new ideas! Probably get stuck in the same old, same old mode...this book sounds like a great resource!

Definitely reluctant. I enjoy it once people are here, but I get a little stressed out thinking about and planning for it. I'm better at spur-of-the-moment get togethers.
ReplyDelete(Forgive me if two comments from me show up. I thought I had posted, but don't see it now.)
I am a reluctant entertainer because I don't like to clean my house. :o) Is that bad??
ReplyDeleteI am a reluctant entertainer because I have a house that is a little too small to have many people over. I also want everything to be perfect and I find myself cleaning up the whole time.
ReplyDeleteShared on Facebook! :)

ReplyDeleteI would definitely consider myself a reluctant entertainer. I'm not exactly sure what it is about it. I enjoy it when I do it, but the frequency is kind of rare. There are always lots of excuses not too... I think the most frequent entertaining that we do is with overnight company with my husbands family... I'm not saying that that's BAD, it just lasts for a long period of time...
I would say a Reluctant Entertainer. Not that I do not have everything I would ever need to entertain.....I just fret about it and stress about it and then do not do it. I do have a good friend and she is always entertaining and I enjoy going to her house.
ReplyDeleteI am a reluctant entertainer for sure! I like the idea of it, but when it comes down to it I would rather go to someone else's house. My excuse? We don't have enough space!
ReplyDeleteYes. I am The Reluctant Entertainer! I love to be with people and would love to entertain; If I didn't worry so much about cleaning and serving the perfect food.
ReplyDeleteI'm a reluctant entertainer and it looks like I need to read this book. I always stress about how clean the house is and how good the food is, but I really love having people over . . .
ReplyDeleteI'm a reluctant entertainer. I always want to have friends over but always talk myself out of it. I am so jealous of my friends who open their homes to me and to others.
ReplyDeleteReluctant! I don't have an explanation I just am!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely a reluctant entertainer. We don't have a whole lot of space to do it in our home.
